Hiring Public Works

Skippack Township is known for its small-town charm, strong sense of community, and residents who take pride in maintaining beautiful roads, parks, and public spaces. The Township’s Public Works team plays a vital role in keeping the community running smoothly—and officials are now seeking a dependable, hands-on individual to join the team as a Full-Time Public Works Laborer.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in delivering quality work, and is ready to step up when the community needs them most, including during snow and ice events.

Position Responsibilities

The Public Works Laborer will assist with a variety of essential duties, including:

  • Road and drainage maintenance

  • Parks and open space upkeep

  • Stormwater and sewer support work

  • Operation of tools and equipment

  • Snow and ice removal operations (overtime as needed)

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred (must obtain within one year of hire)

Volunteer firefighters are especially encouraged to apply. The Township values the service mindset, teamwork, and ability to respond under pressure that volunteer firefighters bring to public service roles.
