Horse Plow

The Skippack Historical Society will host “Spring Plowing with Draft Horses,” a living history demonstration on Saturday, May 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Allebach-Cholet Farm, 4109 Creamery Road (behind Creamery Tire).

The event will feature Steven Burkholder of Kutztown and his team of Percheron draft horses, showcasing how fields were plowed before the advent of mechanized farming. Visitors will have the opportunity to see this traditional method in action and learn about the skills and techniques that were once essential to everyday farm life.

This unique demonstration invites the community to step back in time and experience a piece of Skippack Township’s agricultural heritage while witnessing a farming practice that has largely disappeared from modern life.
